Learn moreThe CDC’s 2020 National Post-acute and Long-term Care Study estimated about 940 residential care communities in Pennsylvania with roughly 57,500 licensed beds, an average of about 61 beds each. Families compare a mix of personal care homes and assisted living residences, often without knowing the difference.
That gap is your opening. A site that explains what your license means, in plain words, answers the question families are already asking. See websites.
Pennsylvania has two license types, both issued by the Department of Human Services, Office of Long-Term Living, Bureau of Human Services Licensing: personal care homes under 55 Pa. Code Chapter 2600 and assisted living residences under Chapter 2800. An assisted living residence can also apply for a special care designation.
The words matter here. Pennsylvania rules say no one may use the term “assisted living” in a name or written material unless licensed under Chapter 2800. A personal care home has to market itself as a personal care home, so we write your site, Google profile, and ads with the right terms from the start.
Usually not directly. The Department of Human Services says personal care homes and assisted living residences are typically not covered by Medicaid and set their own rates. Most residents pay privately, though some also receive Medicaid home and community-based services.
Because most Pennsylvania families pay privately, clear pricing guidance and fast follow-up matter. See lead handling.
