How we work

Marketing assisted living in Michigan

What does the Michigan market look like?

Many small homes. The CDC’s 2020 National Post-acute and Long-term Care Study estimated about 1,400 residential care communities in Michigan with roughly 32,800 licensed beds, an average of about 24 beds each.

A small home wins on local search: the map pack and its town’s name. See Google Business Profile and websites.

How does Michigan license assisted living?

Michigan does not license “assisted living” by that name. The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) says independent and assisted living facilities may hold a home for the aged (HFA) or adult foster care (AFC) license, depending on the level of care they provide. Some facilities can be exempt from HFA licensure.

Families search for “assisted living,” so your site should use that phrase while stating your actual license clearly.

Does Michigan Medicaid pay for assisted living?

It can help, through the MI Choice Waiver run by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). MDHHS describes MI Choice as serving eligible adults who need nursing facility level care in their own home or another residential setting, and its list of participating residential settings includes assisted living communities.

If you accept MI Choice participants, a clear page about it helps families plan. See lead handling.

Questions from Michigan operators

Do you work with Michigan communities from Denver?

Yes. Everything we do runs remotely: the website, ads, SEO, Google Business Profile, and the calls to families. See how it works.

We hold an adult foster care license. Can you still help?

Yes. We market AFC homes and homes for the aged, using “assisted living” where families search for it and your license name where it matters.

Do you build MI Choice pages?

Yes, when you accept MI Choice participants. We link to MDHHS’s own information.

Do you guarantee more inquiries?

We don’t promise a specific number of leads, tours, rankings, or move-ins. We report honestly on every lead, tour, and move-in.
