How we work

Marketing assisted living in California

How big is the California assisted living market?

The biggest in the country. The CDC’s 2020 National Post-acute and Long-term Care Study estimated about 5,700 residential care communities in California with roughly 163,900 licensed beds, more capacity than any other state. The average was about 29 beds, so many of your competitors are small board and care homes, alongside large communities.

With that many options, families rarely scroll far. The communities that win are the ones that show up in the map pack and on the searches for their own city and neighborhood. That is the work of a strong Google Business Profile and pages built for each phrase, the core of our SEO and AI search work.

How does California license assisted living?

The California Department of Social Services licenses assisted living as a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE), through the Senior Care Licensing Program in its Community Care Licensing Division. CDSS describes an RCFE as a housing arrangement for people 60 and over where 24-hour non-medical care and supervision is provided, and notes RCFEs are often called assisted living facilities or board and care homes.

Families can look up any facility’s license and inspection reports on CDSS’s Find Licensed Care site before they call. Your website and ads should use the same words families see there and show your license plainly.

Does Medi-Cal pay for assisted living?

In parts of the state, through the Assisted Living Waiver (ALW), run by the Department of Health Care Services. DHCS lists the waiver in 15 counties, including Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Sacramento, and Santa Clara. Participants need full-scope Medi-Cal with no share of cost and a nursing-facility level of care, and they live in participating RCFEs or adult residential facilities.

If your community participates, families in those counties are searching for it. A plain page about it, and a team that answers those calls the same day, brings in residents other communities never hear from. See lead handling.

Questions from California operators

Do you work with California communities from Denver?

Yes. Everything we do runs remotely: the website, ads, SEO, Google Business Profile, and the calls to families. See how it works.

Do you work with small board and care homes?

Yes. We work with six-bed homes and with large communities. Small homes often get the best return from local SEO and a strong Google profile.

Can you market our Assisted Living Waiver participation?

Yes, if your community participates. We write the page in plain language and link to DHCS’s own information so families can check it.

Do you guarantee more inquiries?

We don’t promise a specific number of leads, tours, rankings, or move-ins. We report honestly on every lead, tour, and move-in.
